When the Norfolk Tides (81-49, 33-23) arrived in Worcester on Tuesday, the Worcester Red Sox (70-60, 31-24) had a share of first place in the International League's second-half race. On Sunday, the Tides can finish off a six-game sweep of the Red Sox at Polar Park and Worcester is tied for sixth place, two-and-a-half games out of first entering play. Norfolk is a game out after winning the first-half title. The WooSox will give the ball to veteran Brian Van Belle, who is 3-2 in eight starts and nine appearances with a 7.19 ERA and 1.60 WHIP in 41.1 innings. Cade Povich, a 23-year-old left-hander, takes the bump for the Tides. Povich is 1-2 in six starts with a 7.61 ERA and 1.56 WHIP in 23.2 innings since coming up from Double-A Bowie in late July.

Lewin Díaz and Ramón Rodríguez had RBI doubles in the 10th inning to lift Norfolk to a 6-4 victory on Saturday evening. The Tides had a 4-1 lead on home runs by Coby Mayo, Connor Norby and Díaz along with an RBI double by Shayne Fontana and Chayce McDermott allowed just a run on two hits in seven innings.
Worcester rallied in the ninth, tying the game with a three-run inning. Ronaldo Hernández doubled in a run, Christian Koss had an RBI infield single and Narciso Crook drew a bases-loaded walk. David Hamilton homered in the fourth inning to get the Red Sox on the board.
Norfolk has won 12 of its last 14 games, including five straight, while Worcester has dropped six of its last eight.
